Rhine River Cruise 360 Videos

Rhine River Cruise 360 Videos

On a sun blissed May afternoon, we took a day cruise on the scenic Rhine River. Our short journey started at Boppard and ended at Bacharach. It took about two and a half hours. The first half of the trip (from Boppard to St. Goarshausen) was crowded because a large tour group was on the boat; once they departed, the boat was fairly empty the rest of the way. Scenic and tranquil, Rhine River cruise is perfect for 360 videos.

St. Goarshaunsen and Castle Katz

The first video of our Rhine River cruise shows the town of St. Goarshausen, with the stunning Castle Katz perched on the western bank (be sure to pane around to look for it).

The Lorelei

The second video was shot as the cruise ship sailed around The Lorelei. Legend has it that this tall rock was home to the so-named siren who bewitched sailers and sunk their boats around this bend in the Rhine River. Today, it hosts a visitor center and an amphitheater. Turn up the volume as the ship’s audio narrative played a famous song named after this spot.

(More videos from this cruise will be uploaded so please check back soon).

Trip Info

We took KD Cruise (http://www.kdrhine.com/); we have been on this Rhine River cruise twice and our experience both times were really great. The ship is clean and spacious, and staff is friendly (my waiter kept coming back to ask if I wanted more beer). The view is best from St. Goarshausen to Bacharach, passing by the famous Lorelei Rock and many castles overlooking the river and villages dotting it banks.

To do an one-way day trip, utilize the local train (Deutsche Bahn) to ferry you to (or back to) your starting point.

Rick Steves guidebook (along with his audio guide app) also provides a great tour for this section of Rhine River.
