The mural up on the dome is names “El hombre creador y rebelde” (the creator man and rebel), while the mural above the stage is called “El pueblo y sus falsos líderes” (the town and its false leaders). These two murals are the first of several murals José Clemente Orozco painted in Guadalajara, culminating in his masterpiece murals in Instituto Cultural Cabañas.

We will bring you a series on Orozco’s Guadalajara murals in the future. In the meantime, we found an excellent video by MUSA (Museo de las Artes Universidad de Guadalajara) on these two murals and we will be remiss not to share it.
